A lot of things have happened since i last updated this thing... but for the sake of keepin some record here goes nothing :D

-Firstly the first rave put on by 'Infinite Productions' - Energise feat. DJ Hixxy [UK] was held on the 2nd December last year. It was a massive success, with a decent sized crowd (for the rave scene now). Hixxy ripped up the dancefloor and belted up some massive past, present and future tunes.

Funny story about that, was i never even knew Hixxy was in Perth as he was only scheduled to arrive a couple of days before the event. However he secretively came over a week before to relax before the show. Was i suprised when the tour manager told me he was here early? very much haha. So there i am callin Hixxy's room to see how he's going and to arrange to have catch up, have a beer etc... and what do you know... hixxy picks up the phone... and it went like this:

    Hixxy: "hows it goin mate"
Me: "not bad man, how was your flight etc"
    Hixxy: "yeah good mate"
Me: "what you up to today?"
Hixxy: "oh just waitin for Scott to get out the shower, then we gotta hit the pool"
    Me: "Scott who?"
    Hixxy: "Scott Brown".

What a suprise. Scotty was there as well. With myself being a big fan of hardcore, hixxy + scotty in the same room. EXCITEMENT. haha

anyway, we all went to the pub and all was good. Just thought i'd mention the funny story ;) haha

-Anyway after that 'Infinite Productions' decided to turn it up a notch. 2 Stages, 2 Internationals VS Australia Day. And such the concept of "Xtreme" came about. A lot of things made the organising of Xtreme a hell of alot harder then Energise, from confirming internationals, all the way to the venue cancelling a week before. But we all pulled through.............. and two days of setup later, building a stage outside with a total of nearly 30,000W of sound.... the night went ahead.

We built an "X" shaped truss inside symbolising "Xtreme" with lights hanging from every which way... and 3 truss towers surrounding the dj on the stage with MAC550's on the top of each tower (worth $12k each!!! haha). Hardcore of course was dedicated inside with internationals Rory (Impact) and Alistair (Storm) rockin inside. Outside, was primarily DnB but we didnt jip them with their setup lol! They got a sound system of equal power, 2 MAC550's as well as other lights covering the dance floor, and more importantly they got a stage! No more of this DJ mixing on a desk on the floor business!

Anyway, the show wasn't as big as Energise unfortunately but there was a decent amount of people and by all means still was a good night.

-And the last big news i can think of is...... I'll be dj'ing at Rise over the long weekend, droppin some of the latest hardcore... from remixes of John Farnham tracks to.... god knows what haha :P

    Until Next Time,

    'ENERGISE'

DJ HIXXY [UK] (Raverbaby Records - Essential Platinum)
    (system 6 tour)

As Happy Hardcore’s answer to the energizer bunny, DJ Hixxy knows how to hit the spot. He is without question one of the most influential producers and DJ's in the English Happy Hardcore scene at the moment. At the forefront of the harder edged sounds for over ten years and creator of the infamous Essential Platinum and Raverbaby imprints which are responsible for the Bonkers CD series (the longest running hardcore series ever), Hixxy just also happens to be one of the most toured performers in the world. Every time he hits the decks in Brisbane he creates pure mayhem, and this time around will be no exception!

This debut is going to go off........ and we can't stop it. Look out!

Just thought i'd throw in a few reviews of some new cd's that i've gotten. Might assist in whoever reads this, in deciding what to buy.

    1. Nine Inch Nails - The Hand That Feeds (Single)
The original to this song is very pop-rock oriented, and doesnt really reflect 'true nine inch nails'. Its a song which either you like or you hate. The remixes take advantage of fully, and perhaps too much, the synths used by NIN.

    Highlight - Photek Remix

    2. VNV Nation - Matter & Form
When you think of VNV Nation, the two albums that i believe jump in peoples minds (well they do mine) are the albums 'Empires' and 'Futureperfect'. If you go looking for this album, dont expect another. Having said this, there are some very well put together tracks, with the typical Ronan-esque type of lyrics, but also some tracks that are lacking in that normal VNV kick behind it. The web released single 'Chrome' is one of the highlights.

Tip: For hardcore VNV fans only. Dont buy this if just getting into EBM. (Go buy Futureperfect!)
    Highlight: Homeward

    3. 4 Strings - Love Is Blind (Vinyl Release)
A very danceable track, with some good remixes. Some well developed synths, and a good beat.

    Highlight: Club Remix

    4. Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth
Many years of waiting has brought the album 'With Teeth' to us. But what to make of it. As a Nine Inch Nails fan, i was quite disappointed. There is not a single track, besides the very pop-rocky (heh) 'The Hand That Feeds', that sticks out. And considering that this track is the single, you would expect it to.
Overall the album is nowhere the creativity, or lyrically in depth, as its predecessors - 'Pretty Hate Machine' or 'The Fragile'.

    Highlight: Love Is Not Enough

    5. New Order - Waiting For The Sirens Call
This album is the perfect album for chilling out to. When i listened to this for the first time i found it completely relaxing, and a perfect combination of percussion, synth and vocals. From the opening track 'Whos Joe?' you become attuned to the brilliant combination tracks that this vintage band has put together.

    Tip: Go buy! :D
Highlight: Guilt Is A Useless Emotion

    6. DJ Sammy - The Rise
The DJ who i believe is the king of constructing synths is back again with a richly put together construction of dance-able yet relaxing dance music. The beat is fast enough to dance easily, yet the synths are that uplifting and calming to relax.

    Tip: For dance fans
    Highlight: Why

And thats all for today. I hope this has assisted someone :D

All opinions here are my own, and i hope no-one takes offence to them. They are merely opinions of the album itself, rather then the band that put them together ;)

Well well well, it has been a long time since updating this thing. :D

Last week i dj'ed at a mates party. (4-hour long set hehe), and then Sin the following night.

Mates party was ok, 300 people +. But the people were not exactly ebm-oriented. I managed to slip in one though ;) APB - Fade To Black .... just palm it off to the drunk people as a Metallica remix haha :P

Was forced to mix rnb, dance, trance, punk, and every other shit genre you could ever think of.

In fact, heres the playlist behind a cut, just in case you want to see how bored i was. :D
